MACBOOK PRO LATE 2013 UPGRADE PC
Intel makes the Chipsets for MacBooks and if I were a PC guy I'd tell you to get a Creative Audio chipset of some description or another. Of all the Apple computers and other computers I’ve owned, the MacBook Pro Late 2013 is the one I’ve been able to keep the longest so far. Apple in partnership with Cirrus Logic has been making its own audio amplifiers and DACs for the iPhone/iPod and has been doing this progressively since the original iPod. Update: it is now February 2022 and I’m still using the MacBook Pro Late 2013 after having changed the thermal paste for the CPU and GPU I’ve started using Apple computers in 2008. Now the fun part of the conclusion is this, anyway. The iPhone's have a better frequency response curve than what the dedicated Filio can provide at all reasonable listening levels if you are driving efficient headphones. There are some reviews out there, but none of them have a helpful frequency response curve that gives you what you want for a MacBook Pro, other than my objective opinion that its pure garbage unless you're using a digital output such as the HDMI port.Īt all reasonable listening levels however there are very good Apple products, you just so happen not to have one. Just have a look at the response curves though rather than output. Of course the Filio wins on loudness, but that's an objective fact that it has a built in amplification stage also.

Objectively my MacBook is nowhere near as good as this. I send music to my iPhone via DLNA occasionally and its crystal clear.

The result is that I don't use my MacBook for listening. But I can literally tell the difference in clarity between my iPhone 5 and my MacBook. The iPhone 5 is as good objectively in terms of frequency response as anything by Filio or anything else for that matter. It has been this way for a long time, since Nvidia is not allowed to make a chipset of their own for Core I processors the way they were for Core2 and Apple doesn't go near AMD. The chipset on most of these things is in the end anyway, an intel HD Audio chipset of some description, it's inferior to the one I use in my iPhone. The MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Late 2013 earned a 1 out of 10 in iFixit's repairability assessment.I own a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, non-retina.
